The number of donations has been lower than expected this year.

Several drop-off points are open to collect gently used winter jackets, snowsuits, boots and other winter wear until Friday, Oct. 29 around the city.

Coats for Kids Campaign Needs Community Assistance – CTV Coats for Kids Campaign is looking to the community for some extra help to collect gently used winter wear for children.

With the fall weather being warmer than anticipated the collection of winter wear has not been as successful as it has been in the past. The Committee of Coats for Kids is looking to the community to take the time to clean out some closets and donate any gentle winter wear items to the program.

An annual sponsored program for the past 26 years. Coats for Kids looks to provide infants, children, and teens with gently used winter jackets, snowsuits, boots and other suitable winter wear.

The program began when it became clear that children of all ages were struggling through cold northern winters without the proper clothing to keep them warm and dry.

This year Cintas Canada Limited Sault Ste Marie location will be a participating sponsor who has graciously taken on the role of collecting and sanitizing all coats and outwear that is collected within the community.

As this a huge endeavour on their part it is greatly appreciated that they have taken on this role in support of the Coats for Kids Program.
The following community supporters are currently collecting gently used winter jackets, snowsuits, boots and outerwear until Friday, Oct. 29, 2021.

Drop off locations are as follows:

  • Fountain Tire – Black Road
  • Skeggs, Paciocco Law Firm- Queen Street
  • Floreani O’Toole Dool Orthodontists – Bay Street
  • Jon’s Medicine Shoppe- Korah Road & Second Line
  • Great Lakes Honda – Great Lakes Honda

Coats for Kids distribution will be held at Delta Hotels by Marriot Sault Ste Marie at 208 St. Mary’s River Drive on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
