Civic Centre needs its roofage. Will cost half-million dollars

Pro North Roofing of Sault Ste. Marie is expected to be awarded a $507,782 contract to replace the Civic Centre roof.

Pro North's base tender of $470,000, plus allowances of $29,000 and harmonized sales tax, was the lowest among five bidders for the job.

Other bidders were:

• Maverick & Son Exteriors and Consulting Services ($484,900 base tender)
• Flynn Canada Ltd, ($493,000 base tender)
• Sempler Gooder Northern Ltd. ($506,600 base tender)
• J.G. Fitzgerald and Sons Ltd. ($518,400 base tender)

The Civic Centre roof is one of five roofing projects for which City Council set aside a total of $1.5 million during its budget deliberations earlier this year.

City Council is also expected to approve a $405,110 contract to Maverick and Son Exteriors and Consulting Services to replace the roof on Storage Building G at the City Works Centre.

Maverick's base tender was $369,104, plus allowances of $29,000 and harmonized sales tax.

Other bidders on the storage building roof were:

• Pro North Roofing ($397,000 base tender)
• Flynn Canada Ltd. ($395,000 base tender)
• Sempler Gooder Northern Ltd. ($400,400 base tender)
• J.G. Fitzgerald and Sons Ltd. ($408,440 base tender)

The two contracts are expected to be awarded by City Council at its meeting on Monday.
