NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE

*************************
Mayor Amaroso and City Council officially announced the creation of a Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council at the Youth Summit held June 10.

The Youth Council will be an opportunity for youth to make real, positive change in the community.

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) will follow the same guidelines and policies as other Committees of Council.

MYAC representatives will be appointed by City Council in December 2014.

Planning sessions will be held before the Terms of Reference document is drafted to ensure youth input is considered and integrated into the structure and mandate of the MYAC.

“We are excited to announce the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council to the City of Sault Ste. Marie,” said Mayor Debbie Amaroso. “We have heard from the youth and the creation of a youth council was a common theme in many discussions over the past years. We listened and have taken action. I look forward to the valuable insight this Committee can provide on municipal affairs.”

More information on the MYAC will be released in the upcoming months.
