A Sault Ste. Marie Police Service police officer was treated for a non-life-threatening injury Sunday after an individual fell from a height in the 100 block of Grace St.

Few details about the incident were initially available, but police say they were called to the scene around 3 p.m.

The officer was hurt in an undisclosed interaction with the individual that was not an altercation, Constable Sonny Spina told SooToday.

The cause and height of the fall weren't immediately known.

The nature of the interaction with the police officer was also not initially known.

Both the officer and the individual who fell are "okay," Spina said.

A witness tells SooToday he saw four police vehicles in a back lane, and two ambulances and a paramedic vehicle nearby on Grace St.

"A police officer was taken to one of the ambulances on a stretcher," the witness said.
