Sault Ste. Marie's business community considers services provided by City Hall to be "adequate," according to a survey conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce.

"Not poor, nor exceptional -- adequate," said Chamber President Don Mitchell (shown), reporting last night to City Council.

"The fact that there was not a flood of response from the membership indicates the level of concern throughout the business community regarding this issue may not be as great as Council and the media might think," Mitchell said.

A 100 percent satisfaction rate is impossible, Mitchell told Council, adding that "I think there's room for improvement."

Asked to indicate on a scale of one to five how "open for business" they perceived the City to be, here's how Chamber members answered:

1 - Definitely - 12 percent 2 - 12 percent 3 - Somewhat - 44 percent 4 - 20 percent 5 - Not at all - 12 percent
