City employees prominent on Sunshine List in 2018

City of Sault Ste. Marie employees continue to do well in regard to annual salaries according to the 2018 ‘Sunshine List’ released by the Ontario government.

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996, requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Al Horsman, the city’s chief administrative officer, earned $206,161.92 in 2018, top of the list for city employees.

Larry Girardi, deputy CAO of public works and engineering, came in second with $184,616.41, followed by Susan Hamilton Beach, Frank Coccimiglio, Peter Niro and Don Elliott, each making approximately $146,000.

Melanie Borowicz-Sibernik, the city’s assistant solicitor, made $137,859.82.

Jacob Bruzas, Don McConnell, Christine Pascall and former city solicitor Nuala Kenny earned between $120,000 to $135,000.

Sault Fire Chief Peter Johnson’s salary was $152,709, with former Police Chief Robert Keetch making $210,305.49.
