During a career that spanned more than 60 years, Berry's long list of hits includes Maybellene, Roll Over Beethoven, Rock and Roll Music, Sweet Little Sixteen, No Particular Place To Go, and You Never Can Tell.

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Berry in the number 6 spot on its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. He was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1984 and was among the first 16 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

It was announced on his 90th birthday in October 2016 that Berry was set to release his first studio album since 1979 later this year. Featured performers on the record – simply named Chuck – include his live backing band and his children Charles Berry Jr. and Ingrid Berry. The album is dedicated to his wife, Thelmetta "Toddy" Berry.
