Charges laid in fatal Garden River crash

******************* Garden River First Nation, Ont. - The investigation into a fatal collision on Highway 17 in the Garden River First Nation Territory this past summer is complete and charges have been laid.

On Thursday August 4, 2005 a head-on collision on Highway 17 in Garden River claimed the life of twenty-year-old Katherine Kervin of Frankville, Ontario.

It is alleged that a pick-up truck was travelling westbound on Highway 17 and crossed the center line striking the Kervin vehicle.

Three other people were injured in the crash and sent to Sault Area Hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck, 69-year-old Fernand Delarosbil of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with careless driving and fail to share roadway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Mr. Delarosbil will appear in Sault Ste. Marie Provincial Offences Court on Wednesday 18 January 2006.
