Chance to build your own Sault Museum coming soon (3 photos)

New building block set of the Sault Ste. Marie Museum will be the first of 10 models depicting local landmarks released by The Brickspace

The Sault Ste Marie Museum, along with its partners The Brickspace and Playwell Bricks, are excited to announce the reveal of a new custom made building block set of the Sault Ste. Marie Museum that is now available for pre-order. Putting together this set will be a fun activity for the whole family.

“We wanted to jump onto this idea of designing custom sets because we thought it would be a great opportunity right now with people not going out as much and kids being home from school. It’s an opportunity to build some history together,” said Will Hollingshead, executive director and chief curator at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum. “It’s a fun and interesting way to engage with and appreciate the history, while doing some family bonding.”

Designed by Jason Pyett of Playwell Bricks, this building set is the first set in a 10 model collection that will be released by The Brickspace, with one of the models being a Soo Falls Brewery set. The Brickspace plans to open retail and exhibition space in the Sault in early 2021.

The 962-piece set is a depiction of the Sault Ste. Marie Museum and measures 22.6 cm by 12.8 cm by 13.9 cm. It is recommended for ages 10 and up. The set will retail for $130 and can be pre-ordered by contacting the Sault Ste. Marie Museum at 705-759-7278.

This building set will only be available through the Sault Ste. Marie Museum and first run production will be limited to 20 sets.

“We want to thank The Brickspace and Playwell Bricks for doing such a great job designing the set,” Hollingshead said. “We can’t wait to share it with our community and visitors.”
