Celebrity poker tournament added to WTF Festival lineup

You’ll raise. You’ll fold. You’ll laugh. Want a chance to go all-in against some of Canada’s best comedians? The WTF Comedy Festival added a Celebrity Jokers’ Poker Tournament to the event lineup. The challenge is taking place at Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday, June 7 at 6 p.m.

Space is limited to three tables of 10, and seats are expected to sell quickly. Registration opens on May 24 at 9 a.m. Spots can be reserved in-person at Gateway Casino Sault Ste. Marie or by calling 705-541-5863.

A celebrity will sit and actively play at each table. Participants will have the chance to win additional prizes by knocking out one of three icons of Canadian stand-up:

• John Catucci, host of television show You Gotta Eat Here! and part of the musical comedy duo The Doo Wops;
• Jessica Holmes, a favourite on Royal Canadian Air Farce who has brought the house down opening for giants such as Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld and Oprah Winfrey; and
• David Merry, one of the country’s premier comic magicians who has spent more than 30 years amazing audiences across the globe.

Immediately following the poker tournament, comedians will take to the stage for a complimentary stand-up show for casino patrons.

Out-of-town guests can purchase an accommodation package that includes their Celebrity Jokers’ Poker Tournament buy-in and tickets to the Russell Peters Deported World Tour show at the Essar Centre on the evening of Friday, June 8.
