Celebrating Alynn: arrangements announced for Friday

On Friday, the Arthur Funeral Home will host a celebration of the life of Alynn Burke, the 24-year-old City Hall staffer who died Saturday after an accident at the I-500 snowmobile race.

On Friday, the Arthur Funeral Home will host a celebration of the life of Alynn Burke, the 24-year-old City Hall staffer who died Saturday after an accident at the I-500 snowmobile race.

Last night's City Council meeting began with a brief tribute to Burke, followed by a moment of silence for the popular fixture around the Enterprise Centre Sault Ste. Marie, where she worked as youth co-ordinator.

Also at last night's City Council meeting, Chamber of Commerce President Don Mitchell commented on Alynn's sunny smile and her contributions to the City. The following was posted today on SooToday.com's obituaries page:

Too soon, on Saturday, February 7, 2004 at the age of 24.

Beloved daughter of Patrick and Cecile Burke. Much loved sister of Bridget and Jesse (son of Ross and Karen Boston). Loved companion of Kraig Karalash (son of John and Verna).

Granddaughter of the late Florence and Joseph Burke and Rose Burke of Sault Ste. Marie and Loraine and the late Leo Pigeau of Ottawa.

Beloved niece of Phil and Mary Ellen Burke. Cousin of Michelle and Doug Kraushaar, Nicole Burke and Steve Cole, Heather Burke.

Friend of many and joy to all.

Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home and Cremation Centre on Thursday, February 12, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A celebration of Alynn’s life will take place in the chapel on Friday, February 13, 2004 at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions to the Learning Disabilities Association of Sault Ste. Marie would be appreciated by the family.
