Caught in the act, two face break and enter charges

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Services newly created Crime Suppression Unit has been tasked with addressing the increasing number of break and enters in the city’s core.

In the early hours of July 11, 2013, a collaborated effort between the Crime Suppression Unit and patrol officers led to the apprehension and arrest of two adult males during a break and enter in progress.

Officers observed two males exiting the rear of a residence in the 400 block of Albert St. West while in possession of property taken from the home.

The two males had also caused damage to the interior of the home while removing the property.

As a result, 43-year-old Winston Causley of Pardee Ave. was charged with break enter and commit theft under $5,000, and mischief under $5,000.

Winston Causley was further charged with being in possession of a controlled substance after Clonazepam pills were located on his person.

The second male, 48-year-old Ronald Masse of Albert St. East was charged with break enter and commit theft under $5,000, and mischief under $5,000.

A search of accused Ronald Masse led to an additional charge of possession of break and enter instruments.

Both men attended Bail Court this morning.
