Thursday's downtown street party was crashed before it even got started.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday, a collision involving two vehicles happened at the intersection of Queen Street East and Church Street.

One of the vehicles involved then proceeded westbound on Queen Street East, entering a portion of the road that had closed to vehicular traffic due to the downtown street party.

The vehicle then came to a stop at 801 Queen Street East, but not before causing damage to some property and video equipment.

One person suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A 61-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with careless driving.
