Buskerfest brings 'em downtown by the busillions

Buskerfest has wildly exceeded expectations of both organizers and performers, jam-packing Queen Street between March and Spring on its first night.

"For a first-time event, this is awesome," Halifax busker Jeff Collins told SooToday.com. "I'm performing next and I can't wait to go on."

That's Collins in the background of our photo, eating a little fire with Toronto street magician Jeff Hill in the foreground.

The event, spearheaded by Ward 6 Councillor Jason Collins and organized by SaultYouth.com, was attracting steady crowds of between 500 and 600 people tonight.

Organizers were planning to split Buskerfest into multiple venues on Saturday.

The event continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
