Bridge traffic down by more than 13 per cent

More than 101 million bridge crossings have occurred since 1962

INTERNATIONAL BRIDGE ADMINISTRATION

Traffic for the calendar year-to-date at March 31, 2019, is 271,778. This represents a year-to-date decrease of 13.1 per cent. The bridge has processed 101.5 million bridge crossings since 1962.

The International Bridge Administration today announced that one-way traffic crossings of the International Bridge at Sault Ste. Marie totaled 103,733 for the month of March 2019. This figure represents a decrease of 10.1 per cent, a difference of 11,634 crossings as compared to March 2018.

An analysis of traffic statistics for the month reveals the following:

The International Bridge self-funds with toll revenue all operational costs. Operational costs include the bridge structure, maintenance facilities, the Bridge Authority toll plaza, and building maintenance and support costs for the Canada Border Services Agency facility.
