Wendy Hansson steps down as president, CEO of Sault Area Hospital (updated)

SooToday has learned that Sault Area Hospital (SAH) President and Chief Executive Officer Wendy Hansson has stepped down effective immediately. 

The hospital has declined to comment on Hansson's departure. 

"Wendy Hansson will be leaving Sault Area Hospital as President and CEO effective immediately. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with additional insights as Sault Area Hospital does not comment on personnel matters," said SAH spokesperson Brandy Sharp Young in an email to SooToday Tuesday afternoon. 

An e-mail sent to hospital staff this afternoon from SAH Board Chair Sharon Kirkpatrick states that Lil Silvano, Vice President of Operational Sustainment and Chief Financial Officer, will assume the role for the next two weeks (Aug. 3-16).

Hansson, a Sault Ste. Marie native, has been with SAH since 2019.
