Negotiators for Algoma Steel and United Steelworkers Local 2251 are resuming contract talks, SooToday has learned.

"We're meeting today," said Mike Da Prat, president of the 2,000-member bargaining group representing the Sault steelmaker's hourly workers.

The news comes as Local 2251 is preparing to meet with its members on Thursday at Quattro Hotel to provide details of a company offer that it's recommending be unanimously rejected.

Voting on the offer will continue over Aug. 29 at 550 Queen Street West (west of the tracks on the north side of Queen. Parking lot is accessed from the Albert St. side).
