U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have confirmed that they've located a 21-year-old man believed to have swum the St. Mary's River from Canada one week ago.

The man was found hiding in thick brush on the U.S. side and was taken into custody, tonight's edition of the Soo Evening News reports.

Border officials were pointed to the man by a Sugar Island resident.

The identity of the man and the nature of any charges laid against him are not known.

The newspaper also indicates that two individuals were arrested near Rudyard for conspiracy to smuggle an illegal alien into the United States.
