At 5:45 p.m., the George A. Stinson lifted anchor and was about to proceed downbound.

Thursday's storm knocked out power to about 330,000 Michiganders, closing schools in both the twin Saults.

The Associated Press is reporting tonight that the strongest verified wind gust was 74 miles per hour in Ypsilanti — the strength of a weak hurricane.

15-foot waves were reported on Lake Michigan.

Police escorted tall vehicles across the Mackinac Bridge.
