Wondering whether it's safe to eat what's in your fridge or freezer?

SooToday.com has received the following suggestions from Bill O'Donnell, program manager of environmental health at the Algoma Health Unit:

**************************************************************** Home Food Supplies

Although the power outage appears to be over, please practise certain precautions to protect your home food supplies:

- If refrigerated food has reached a temperature above 5 degrees Celsius, it should be discarded

- If frozen food still has ice crystals, it can be refrozen

- Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible

As a rule of thumb, if you are in doubt about the safety of your food, throw it out.
