It's apparently an all-girl club.

But what guy would want to be called an Alley Kitten and have to slink around Sault Ste. Marie in white leather?

A handful of local biker babes have organized themselves as the Alley Kittens and have set out to help some of our hard-hit local charities.

Here's their very-official Alley Kittens announcment:

********************** Due to the onslaught of new Government regulations regarding the banning of smoking in public places, the monies normally raised by bingo and similar activities for non profit organizations have been greatly reduced.

Coupled with a reduction in Government assistance for nonprofit organizations, it has led to serious lack of funds that go toward helping our community.

Some people may be at a loss on how to combat this serious problem, however, one group in particular in Sault Ste. Marie have come up with a small but hopefully, effective solution.

The Alley Kittens is a local female motorcycle group who have taken it upon themselves to help bolster the coffers of some of our local charities.

They have started with Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie and have produced an Alley Kitten Calendar which is tasteful and informative with listing of motorcycle rides and community events covering all of Ontario.

This calendar is entirely sponsored by our local merchants.

They will be sold at the Station Mall in front of Cali Nails on December 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Alley Kittens themselves will be present and available for signing the calendars and answering any questions the public may have.

They have future plans in helping fund local organizations, which include charity rides, BBQs and similar events.

The women’s occupations vary from business women, nurses, accountant, and administrative assistant and home engineers.

They do not reflect your stereotypical bikers.

Their trade mark is ALL WHITE LEATHER CLOTHING!

Because these women are so impressive in a group, they have had requests as far as Kapuskasing to be an attraction in the Lumberjack Festival.

Most recently, they participated in the Easter Seal Society’s Fashion Show with our local police officers and firefighters, which was a huge success.

There are currently eight Kittens and three more pending approval.

They are expecting to double in size by springtime 2005 and with support from local news networks.

It will let other charities and the public know that the Alley Kittens present a new and successful avenue for fund raising!
