A brand new cruise ship operated by Compagnie du Ponant Cruises of Marseille, France has arrived on the St. Marys River.

Guests aboard Le Champlain – officially classed as an expedition mega-yacht – departed Quebec City on Sept. 12 for the luxury vessel's first-ever Great Lakes voyage.

Following a short stay in the Sault, Le Champlain is scheduled to anchor at Mackinac Island before reaching its final destination in Milwaukee, Wis. on Sept. 22.

The vessel is expected to return to the Sault in mid-October.
