SAULT STE. MARIE POLICE SERVICE

********************** On June 18 at approximately 6:15 p.m. City Police and the City Fire Departments were dispatched to a house fire in the 100 block of Albion Street.

The resident of the home had left a pot of oil on the stove while he was barbecuing in the backyard.

The oil caught fire and it spread to the kitchen.

A passerby and a neighbour seeing the smoke attended to offer assistance.

They attempted to put out the fire and search the residence for any tenants.

While doing this they both suffered smoke inhalation and one male suffered some minor burns.

Both were treated at hospital.

The fire caused extensive damage to the kitchen.
