Baby taken to hospital in two vehicle collision (4 photos)

A pickup truck and an SUV were involved in a collision at Strand Avenue and Wilson Street today

An 11-month-old baby and an adult were taken to hospital after a collision at the corner of Strand Ave. and Wilson St. today, said Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services Captain Steve Quesnelle.

He said the fire department received a call to a collision around 4:40 p.m. today and the collision involved a red Dodge Ram pickup truck and a black Ford Escape SUV.

All airbags were deployed in the Escape and firefighters were seen removing a car seat, diapers, and other baby supplies from it.

Quesnelle said he didn't know the condition of the people involved in the collision but no extrication was required.

Firefighters placed absorbent on the road to soak up radiator fluid that had leaked from the pickup truck.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers were also on scene.
