The latest rounds of layoffs at Sault College started today, with the elimination of four administrative positions.

The following is the full text of a press released issued by the college today:

***************************************************************** Administrative staff reductions

Yesterday (Monday, March 31), Sault College reduced its administrative complement by four positions.

Affected employees may choose between the college’s Early Leaving Incentive Plan and established severance factors.

These complement reductions follow the completion of a review process involving senior management and the Sault College Administrative Staff Association executive.

"As I have noted in senior management’s meetings with college employees, we must act now to ensure that Sault College becomes financially viable," said Sault College President Timothy Meyer.

"Yet, while ultimately unavoidable, the measures being taken are both difficult and painful.

"Those who have left the college have admirably served our students and our community.

"We extend to these former employees our appreciation and respect for their contributions."
