CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

************************ A 15-year old youth and 18-year old Jordan Driver of 99 Letcher Street will be appearing in bail court this morning.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning patrol officers stopped a van on Great Northern Road due to erratic driving.

When one of the officers went to get out of the police cruiser the van took off.

The van went a very short distance, went off the roadway and got stuck in behind a business in the 1200 block of Great Northern Road.

The youth, who was in the passenger seat, took off running from the van but was stopped a short distance away from the van by officers.

The driver of the van was identified as Mr. Driver and he was arrested in the van.

It was learned that the van was stolen.

Inside the van officers located a Spiderman backpack containing 22 DVDs as well as a Kawasaki receiver for a home entertainment centre.

The owner of the van has advised the property is not theirs and police are trying to determine where the property came from.

The youth has been charged with one possession of property obtained by crime.

Mr. Driver has been charged with one count of breach of release order, one count of fleeing from police while operating a motor vehicle, one count of possession of housebreaking tools, one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
