Algoma Public Health is reporting 23 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 46 new confirmed cases over the weekend.

The active case count in the region is down by 35, with 209 confirmed active cases of COVID-19, and 81 resolved cases since the last report.

Hospitalizations are down by seven to 23 from the last report, and there are still two people in ICU who have tested positive for COVID-19.

APH ran 335 COVID-19 tests over the weekend with a 13.7 per cent positivity rate.

Of those eligible, 85.3 per cent of Algoma residents have received two or more doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
