Algoma Public Health is advising anyone who sat in rows 8-12 and flight crew who served these rows on Air Canada Flight AC8302 from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday, Dec. 19 to get tested as soon as possible, regardless of vaccination status.

If you are not vaccinated, self isolate immediately.

If you are vaccinated, monitor for any symptoms, and if any develop, self isolate.

There were 19 new cases of COVID-19 reported in APH today.

Four of those cases are in Central and East Algoma, and 15 are in Sault Ste. Marie and area.

One case has been linked to a known case of COVID-19, five are from an unknown source of infection, and 13 are under investigation.

There are currently 227 active cases of COVID-19 and six hospitalizations in the Algoma Public Health region.

There have been 1656 confirmed cases in the APH since the beginning of the pandemic.

Algoma regions with COVID-19 cases reported in the past 14 days include:

  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Central and East Algoma
  • Elliot Lake and area

APH says although the Omicron variant has not yet been confirmed in Algoma, a number of current exposures are suspected and presumed to be due to this variant of concern, due to initial lab screening results, a history of travel, or links to known Omicron exposures in other areas of the province.
