APH reporting three new COVID cases

Algoma Public Health is reporting three new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

The new cases bring the total number of cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 364.

Of the new cases, one is in the Sault Ste. Marie area and two are from the Elliot Lake area.

Case No. 362, tested on May 13, falls under the close contact exposure category, which means the individual was infected through close contact with a confirmed case.

Cases 363 and 364, tested on May 12, are under the exposure category of unknown, which means the individuals did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

All three individuals are currently self-isolating.

There are currently 30 active cases in Algoma and one hospitalization.

Regions in Algoma that have reported COVID cases in the past 14 days include:

  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Central and east Algoma
  • Elliot Lake and area
  • North Algoma
