APH reporting one new COVID case in Algoma

Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in the region.

The new case brings the total number of COVID cases in Algoma since the start of the pandemic to 226.

Tested on March 27, the individual is under the exposure category of unknown, which means that the person did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

APH is also advising anyone who visited the Tim Hortons in Sault Ste. Marie at the corner of Great Northern Road and Third Line, either through walk-in or drive-thru, on March 23 and 24 between 5 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. of a potential low-risk exposure to COVID-19.

The health unit is advising anyone who visited that location during the given times to:

  • Self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days from potential exposure
  • Self-isolate immediately if symptoms develop
  • Seek testing if symptoms occur

There are currently 15 active cases in the region.
