Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in the Algoma region.

The case, which brings the total number of COVID cases in Algoma since the start of the pandemic to 254, is in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

The exposure category for the individual, who was tested on April 7, is unknown.

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

There are currently 26 active cases in Algoma and one is currently hospitalized.
