APH reporting new COVID-19 case in Sault area

Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in the Algoma region.

The new case, which is in the Sault Ste. Marie area, brings the total number of COVID cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 466.

Tested on Sept. 22, the individual was exposed through close contact with a known confirmed case and is currently self-isolating.

There are currently 11 active cases and no hospitalizations in Algoma as of 3:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The Sault area is the lone region in Algoma to have reported COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days.

In a release, APH's latest immunization status of cases shows that of the 65 cases reported in the region between July 1 and Sept. 21, 15 cases were in fully vaccinated people (23.1 per cent) and 50 cases (76.9 per cent) were in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals.
