APH reporting four new COVID-19 cases

The region currently has 24 active cases and two hospitalizations

Algoma Public Health is reporting four new COVID-19 cases in the region.

The new cases, which brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in Algoma since the beginning of the pandemic to 358, are all in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

All four individuals were tested on May 11.

Of the new cases, three are under the exposure category of close contact, which means the individuals were infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

The fourth case falls under the exposure category of unknown, which means the individual did not have any international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Algoma regions that have reported COVID cases in the past 14 days include:

Sault Ste. Marie and area

Elliot Lake and area

North Algoma

There are currently 24 active cases in Algoma and two hospitalizations. There are also two additional hospitalizations that are non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region.
