APH reporting 22 new COVID cases in Algoma, low-risk exposure in Sault Ste. Marie

Algoma Public Health is reporting a low-risk COVID-19 exposure in Sault Ste. Marie and 22 new cases in the Algoma region.

The exposure was at the New American on Bay St. in the Sault on Dec. 3 between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Anyone who was present at the time listed is asked to self-monitor for COVID symptoms for 10 days and seek testing as well as self-isolate if symptoms develop.

Of the new cases, 20 are in the Sault Ste. Marie area while two are in central and east Algoma.

There are currently 258 active cases in Algoma and five hospitalizations.

Among the new cases, 14 individuals were exposed through close contact with a known confirmed case, four are unknown, three were exposed through international travel and one is still under investigation.
