Four-year-old Braxton Marlow landed this, er, notable perch Saturday during the Ernie Eddy Memorial Children's Ice Fishing Derby.

The event, organized by St. Joseph Island Hunters and Anglers Association, took place at Twin Lakes on the Island.

It was moved to Lower Twin Lake in 2002 to take advantage of a release of 22-month old splake that year.

The splake release was part of the Kala Project, a children's only fishing area named after Kala Johnston, who lived on the Twin Lakes.

All anglers who fish splake there must be accompanied by a child 16 and under.
