Less than a week after announcing that Michigan is getting 97 new customs inspectors, Congressman Joseph Knollenberg (shown at left) has announced 150 additional new positions related to border security.

Knollenberg is quoted today by the Associated Press as saying that his state will be assigned approximately 90 new land inspectors for the Immigration and Naturalization Service, 15 new air and sea inspectors, and 45 new Border Patrol agents.

The AP report does not indicate whether any of the new positions will be in Soo, Michigran.

Knollenberg's earlier announcement said that three of the 97 new customs inspectors would be located at the Soo border crossing.
