Altercation at the courthouse ends in assault charge

ELLIOT LAKE – On June 27, 2016, shortly after 2 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had occurred at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Elliot Lake.

The female victim told police that while waiting in the lobby of the courthouse, her boyfriend’s ex-wife exited the court room. 

An altercation ensued between the two women. 

As a result, a 30 year old female, from Serpent River First Nation, Ontario, was arrested and charged with: assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 6, 2016.
