Pump Track opens this Saturday

SAULT STE. MARIE - The grand opening event for the Esposito Park Pump Track takes place Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of Andrew Street and Queen Street West, on the spoke of the Hub Trail.

Mayor Christian Provenzano will perform the ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m., followed by demonstrations from skilled bike and skateboard enthusiasts.

The Pump Track is a progressive asphalt looped track with various ramps and berms. Riders shift their weight or use pumping action in combination with the track’s outline to propel themselves around the track.

“The Pump Track provides riders of all ages the opportunity to be introduced to the sports of cycling, skateboarding and rollerblading,” says Virginia McLeod, the City’s Manager of Recreation and Culture. “I encourage all riders regardless of your ability, to come to the venue to try out the track and further develop your skills and techniques.”

“All wheels, all ages” are welcome to attend the grand opening activities – come for the demos; enjoy the music and food.
