During its annual general meeting held earlier this week, the Ontario Public School Boards' Association (OPSBA) announced its executive council/leadership team for the 2021-22 school year.

A news release issued by the OPSBA states that Indigenous trustee with the Algoma District School Board (ADSB) Elaine Johnston of Serpent River First Nation was selected by the Indigenous Trustees’ Council as OPSBA's First Nations director.

"Trustee Johnston’s dedication and commitment to the role will continue to strengthen public education for Indigenous students and foster broader perspectives for all students," the release states.

Other area appointments include Sheryl Evans as regional chair, Northern Region (ADSB); and Jennifer Sarlo, ADSB chair, will continue as OPSBA’s northern trustee (East) appointed to the Educator’s Program Work Group.
