Algoma Public Health reports two new COVID-19 cases and one death

These cases are case #484 and #485, and the eighth death in the region due to COVID-19

Algoma Public Health is reporting two new cases of COVID-19.

One case is in Sault Ste. Marie and area, and the other in North Algoma. 

Algoma Public Health is also advising the public of a potential exposure to COVID-19 for anyone who travelled on the following flight on Oct. 18, 2021.

  • Air Canada AC 8317 from Toronto to Sault Ste. Marie. Passengers who sat in rows 3-9 and flight crew who served these rows should contact their local public health unit for further information.

If you were on this flight on the date and time listed, you are advised to follow public health guidance:

  • Self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 for 10 days from potential exposure.
  • Self-isolate immediately if symptoms develop.
  • Seek testing if symptoms occur.

APH has also reported that the region's eighth death from COVID-19 has occurred.

Out of respect for the family, no further information is being shared.
