Algoma Public Health reports 43 new cases of COVID-19

All but one of those new cases are located in Sault Ste. Marie

Algoma Public Health is reporting 43 new cases of COVID-19 today.

Most of those cases are in the Sault Ste. Marie area, with one case in Central and East Algoma.

This brings the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 1251. 

Of these new cases, 18 have been traced to close contact with a known case, 11 are of unknown origin and 14 are still under investigation.

There are currently 397 active cases, nine outbreaks and 10 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in the Algoma Public Health region.

Regions within the APH that have reported cases in the last 14 days are:

  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Central and East Algoma
  • Elliot Lake and area
