Algoma Public Health reporting 14 new COVID cases, low-risk exposure in Thessalon

There are five hospitalizations and 257 active cases in the region

Algoma Public Health is reporting a low-risk COVID-19 exposure in Thessalon.

The exposure was at Thessalon Memorial Community Arena on Friday, Dec. 3 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Anyone who was there during that time is advised to self-monitor for COVID symptoms for 10 days from potential exposure and seek testing as well as self-isolate if symptoms develop.

APH is also reporting 14 new COVID cases in the Algoma region on Thursday, including 13 in the Sault Ste. Marie area and one in the Elliot Lake area.

The active case count is down slightly from Wednesday with 257 cases currently active in the region.

Of the new cases, seven individuals were infected through close contact with a known confirmed case, two have an unknown source of infection, one was infected through international travel, and four remain under investigation at this time.

The region currently has five hospitalizations at of Thursday evening.
