The former Algoma Hotel at Queen and Bruce is being reduced this morning to rubble.

Demolition has begun at the site of the old watering-hole, which was taken over by the City for unpaid taxes.

The site, next to Memorial Gardens, will either serve as the main site or parking for the new downtown arena, depending on where it is built.

**************************************************************** EDITOR'S NOTE: SooToday News is currently posting two groups of photographs, one taken between 9 and 10 a.m., another around 1:30 p.m.

The nice photographs were taken by Hilary Connell, a co-op education student from Sir James Dunn Collegiate and Vocational Institute currently on placement at SooToday.com.

The cruddy images were taken by our usual twit.
