Airport sets passenger level records in August

20,914 passengers flew to and from the Sault Ste. Marie Airport in August 2018 for an increase of 4.28 per cent over August 2017. This also provides for a new 12 month record for passengers thru the airport at 216,754 eclipsing the previous 12 month record of 216,172 set in June 2018. 

August 2018 also set a record for passenger levels in a single month at 20,914 breaking the previous record set in October 2017 of 20,667. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport continues to be served daily by Air Canada Express, Bearskin Airlines, and Porter Airlines, with winter seasonal service provided by Sunwing Airlines. This winter Sunwing will be returning to Punta Cana with service on Fridays from Dec. 21, 2018 through to April 19, 2019.  

As the SSMADC continues along in its 21st year of private ownership and operation of the Sault Ste. Marie Airport year 2018 the airport has seen a 2.51 per cent increase in passenger levels year to date (April through August). 

In the past 12 months the Sault Ste. Marie Airport has set two new records for overall passenger levels in a single month, as well as seven months in the past year that set records for that month.
