Aircraft purchase may bring WestJet back to the Sault

Yesterday in Calgary, executives of WestJet were kicking the tires on a 100-seat Embraer 170 jet (shown).

If the no-frills airline decides to buy the smaller Brazilian-made jets, it could open the door to restoration of WestJet service to the Sault, the Globe and Mail is reporting today.

"One-hundred-seat jets are very much a possibility" for WestJet, a source close to the company told the Globe's Keith McArthur.

"It would allow us back into the Sudburys and Sault Ste. Maries of the world," the source said.
