If you're an agricultural producer looking to introduce new technology to make your farm safer, you may be eligible for new funding from the provincial government.

Starting Aug. 19, producers can apply to the Innovator Stream of the $22-million Agri-tech Innovation Program, which will provide up to 60 per cent funding of eligible costs for large-scale projects aimed at enhancing the health and safety of workers and increasing productivity.

The fund was first announced in April.

Under the Innovators Stream, eligible projects will be adopting innovation that’s new to Ontario, North America or the specific sector. Examples include prototyping or customization of autonomous farm harvesting equipment.

The projects will involve piloting or demonstrating the technology, and will need to be a collaboration between at least two businesses or organizations.

The Innovators Stream intake will run from Aug. 19 to Sept. 27, 2021.
