Sault driver charged with impaired near Parry Sound

On August 26, 2016, a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 400, Seguin Twp.

The motor vehicle took out 50 guardrails.

As the result of the investigation, the officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver, Bernard Stuetz, 53 years of age from Sault Ste Marie, was arrested and charged with:
    •    Driving while ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol) contrary to the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    Driving with more than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in blood contrary to the CC

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, on September 29, 2016 to answer to his charges.

His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.

The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving.

Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialling 9-1-1 immediately.
