Additional COVID-19 vaccination appointments are being made available this month by Algoma Public Health dedicated for people in the region working in long-term care and retirement homes, congregate living settings, child care, and education.

Following is a full release from APH on the appointment availability:

In alignment with provincial actions to accelerate COVID-19 immunization, Algoma Public Health and community partners are maintaining access to timely COVID-19 immunization for those working in long-term care and retirement homes, congregate living settings, child care, and education.

Over 3,700 additional vaccine appointments are being made available in January across the Algoma district for both members of these groups, and for eligible Algoma residents who are aged 30+.

Dedicated appointments for individuals working in these sectors and eligible residents include:

  • Jan  11, 2022 at GFL, Sault Ste. Marie
  • Jan. 14, 2022 at Blind River Community Centre, Blind River
  • Jan. 19, 2022 at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre, Wawa

The Elliot Lake Family Health team will also be offering additional appointments.

At this time, based on vaccine supply, all additional clinics will be offering Moderna only to those aged 30 and older. Individuals are eligible for a 3rd dose when at least 84 days (three months) have passed since their second dose.

All eligible workers who care for and work with our vulnerable populations are strongly encouraged to receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as eligible to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 and the highly transmissible Omicron variant of concern, especially during the current surge in Ontario.
