A warning about high snow banks

The following traffic advisory was issued today by City Police:

********************************* The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is issuing another traffic advisory in light of the number of traffic accidents that are occurring in our city.

Snow covered roads are making traveling more difficult within the city and high snow banks are reducing visibility to those motorists that are attempting to exit from driveways, parking lots and intersecting streets.

As a reminder to all motorists, vehicles traveling on main thoroughfares have the right of way and all other traffic must yield to them.

When trying to exit from a driveway, parking lot or intersecting street, inch out slowly and proceed with extra caution.

As well, motorists on main streets are asked to reduce their speed and to be cautious when approaching intersections and to be more alert to vehicles exiting parking lots and driveways. *************************************
