$618,006 for six local businesses

Provincial government continues to support Sault entrepreneurs and boost local economy

The Ontario government is supporting business development in Sault Ste. Marie by helping local companies expand operations and increase revenues, David Orazietti MPP announced today.

“Through provincial NOHFC programs, we are supporting six local entrepreneurs so that they can strengthen their small business and create new jobs,” said Orazietti. “Our government recognizes that investing in private sector opportunities is key to growing our northern economy.”

With an investment of $618,006 through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) the province is supporting six local small business projects that will create 17 new jobs:

Insightworks Learning & Development received $213,125 to expand their business and purchase equipment to further develop the design of computer software for web based learning and market it for health care sector;
North Drilling received $165,631 for environmental and geotechnical investigative drilling and testing services;
RBB Innovations Ltd. received $117,250 to develop a child care portal (OneHSN) to connect government programs and child care centres directly;
Village Electric Inc. received $80,000 to establish a multimedia production studio focusing on high quality video, audio recording and other services for commercial clients;
Pearce Apiary received $24,000 to produce and sell high quality honey and other bee products in the area;
Jardin Farms received $18,000 to assist with the cost of purchasing a greenhouse and refrigeration unit for this local market garden

Investing in small business is part of the government’s economic plan to build Ontario up and deliver on its number-one priority to grow the economy and create jobs. The four-part plan includes investing in talent and skills, including helping more people get and create the jobs of the future by expanding access to high-quality college and university education. The plan is making the largest investment in public infrastructure in Ontario’s history and investing in a low-carbon economy driven by innovative, high-growth, export-oriented businesses. The plan is also helping working Ontarians achieve a more secure retirement.
